About DIW "Dune Submariner"

Belgian custom watch brand Designa Individual (DiW) has recently released several modified Rolex Submariners. Following the previously introduced EOC Submariner and Submariner “Ghost,” the brand has now added the Dune Submariner to its lineup. As the name suggests, this is a Submariner inspired by the desert environment.

Based on the 126610LN, DiW first sandblasted the stainless steel case, crown, and bracelet to create a more rugged and tough style for the watch. Similar to the other two Submariner modifications mentioned earlier, DiW also replaced the ceramic bezel with carbon fiber and filled the scale with beige enamel, thus creating a distinctive impression for the Dune Submariner compared to the typical black Submariner.

The beauty of nature often inspires awe and fascination. DiW believes that deserts, forests, mountains, and oceans are the best sources of design inspiration. Therefore, they chose the desert as the theme this time and applied it to the seemingly conflicting dive watch – the Rolex Submariner. While the Submariner is typically associated with lakes or oceans, DiW breaks the mold by connecting the desert with the Submariner. Despite its identity as a dive watch, the robust specifications of the Submariner make it perfectly suitable for desert environments.

The essence of the desert theme is reflected in the dial of the Dune Submariner. It features a sand-colored dial with khaki luminescent material on the hour markers, a coffee-colored second hand, and white luminescent hour markers on the hands. Additionally, the luminescent hour markers on the hands remain white. This combination not only infuses the dial with desert vibes but also adds different shades, including the use of black and coffee colors for the Rolex logo, DiW logo, and series name at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock. As a result, the sand-colored dial of the watch appears richer than it sounds, with a slight hint of vintage atmosphere.

Following DiW’s usual ultra-limited model pattern, the Dune Submariner is limited to only 10 pieces. The price of the watch is also higher than the secondary market price of the 126610LN. DiW is pricing it at 34,990 euros, which exceeds the million-dollar threshold when converted to New Taiwan Dollars. Therefore, those interested in acquiring this special edition must first budget accordingly to have a chance at owning this desert-themed Submariner.
