Panerai’s New Luminor Quaranta BiTempo

The new Luminor Quaranta BiTempo carries forward the moderate size and slim design of the Luminor Quaranta series, while introducing a dual-time function, enhancing the watch’s practical versatility. Available in two versions, the PAM01365 and PAM01367, both are crafted from stainless steel with a 40mm case. Each model comes with a color-coordinated alligator strap and a quick-release system, allowing wearers to easily swap straps with those provided by Panerai. The PAM01365 includes a black rubber strap, while the PAM01367 includes a colored rubber strap, each chosen to complement their respective dials.

The PAM01365 features a black dial, while the PAM01367 comes with a white dial. Both colors are popular and versatile, designed to age beautifully. The dials follow the same layout, with a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock and a dual-time hand (in blue) that completes one rotation every 12 hours. The word “BiTempo,” meaning “dual time” in Italian, is printed at 6 o’clock, highlighting the watch’s core functionality and emphasizing Panerai’s Italian heritage, adding a unique touch that sets it apart from other brands.

In low-light conditions, the dual-time hand emits a soft blue glow, while the hour markers glow green, aiding readability. Both versions of the Luminor Quaranta BiTempo feature a sandwich-style dial. The matte black dial on the PAM01365 is coated with white Super-LumiNova®, while the white dial of the PAM01367 has a gray Super-LumiNova® coating, showcasing distinct details between the two. Panerai has refined the date window display for greater readability, adjusting its color to match the dial—black date discs with white numbers on the black dial, and the reverse on the white dial.

A transparent case back reveals the intricate P.900/GMT automatic movement, featuring an open-worked rotor, 23 jewels, and an Incabloc® shock protection system for enhanced stability. The movement also boasts a 28,800 vph frequency and a power reserve of 72 hours, ensuring reliability to match its complex functionality.
